Oct 9-11 2020 Scout Troop 5014 sponsored a Fantastic Camporee. With scout help from troops 4, 6, and 445 they stage a scouting camp experience for people with special needs. Working with Fantastic Friends of WNY and the Nor-Ton Red jacket Club Troop 5014 sponsored the Camporee.
After picking a patrol and being assigned a scout ‘guide’ special needs friends were able to go to three scout skill areas. (Nature Walk, Fire Building, and Knot Tying) With help from their scout guides friends were able to earn ‘merit badges’ in the three areas.
At the same time as helping special needs people scouts received training and learned about people with special needs, in the process earning their Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge.
